Antique Tin Litho “Consul the Educated Monkey”, PAT. June 27, 1916 and Nov. 26, 1918, by TEP Manufacturing Company, Inc., Factory, Dayton, Ohio. This Antique Tin Litho Mathematical Toy comes with its Original Illustrated Envelop packaging, and an Addition Table/Directions Card insert. It is rare to find the “Consul the Educated Monkey” Toy with its original packaging.
This Tin Litho Toy measures 5 7/8in height, 5.5in width, and 1/16in depth. The Monkey measures 4..75in height, and 3.75in-4 7/8 at the widest point. The Illustrated Envelop measures 6.25in height, 5.5in width, and 1/16in depth. The Directions/Addition Table Card measures 3 5/8in height and 4 7/8in width.
Fair Plus to Good Minus Antique Condition. The Tin Litho Mathematical Toy is in good shape for its age, however, there are a few condition issues to discuss: there is some scratching and minor paint loss on the monkey, with the most noticeable, a scratch with small holes (not all the way through the tin) in the tin across one of the monkey’s arms, there are scratches/paint loss on the green tin background where the monkey slides back and forth, and minor scratching/paint loss on the back of the piece. I am selling the Illustrated Box Envelop with insert as is. The Envelop is in Fair a Plus condition for its age. There is some soiling, bumped/worn corners, small tears with applied antiquarian tape, and a missing piece of the paper flap. The red graphic on the front of the envelop is quite nice and clean.
Please review all photos for they are part of this item’s description and condition evaluation. Please feel free to ask questions if you have them.
This is a fine example of an earlier Tin Litho Toy with its Original Packaging.
